ISP killed my router?

I notice that the TP-Link Archer VR-2800 is not listed at all as compatible, however it has been attached to same for a few months now. My ISP had outages over the weekend and because it is not their supplied kit they were unable to help (I did not say I had firewalla box connected - should I have done?) I did a factory reset of the router and I only get a red LED that should turn white. I have had to revert back to their crummy Huawei HG-6633 router. Perhaps I should not have changed my plan which was up for renewal at reduced cost.

  In theory, it is not possible to kill a router, unless it is something physical.  TP-Link does have decent routers at a reasonable price.  You may want to flash that router and see if you can revive it.

  I know, but how do I flash when it requests to be connected to cloud services? Which can't be done. Bad wording on my part. What I meant to say is they have changed some setting which I can't get to this end.
