PPPoE - Possibility to reconnect at night?
PinnedHi,
I don't know if this is only a topic in germany, but we have a so called DSL forced separation ("DSL Zwangstrennung" in german).
After 24 hours the providers (I think the most, mine does this) in germany make a forced separation - A reconnect with new ip address is necessary. Firewall do it and all is fine. But all connections are dropped, sip calls are interrupted. The time depends on when I initially started my box.
On my german router (AVM Fritzbox) I can configure a custom time (e.g. in the night 2-3am) for this reconnect (the router simply reconnects the pppoe connection).
Is it also planned to implement such a feature? Or can I implement a cronjob or something else?
Thanks
Alex
Edit: Oh, spelling mistake in the only german word - Zwangstrennung corrected :)

Nice to see the unit up in Germany!
As of this feature, let me chat a bit with our engineer and get back to you. Is the problem to do a pre-disconnect before the real disconnect happens? Would you mind share the configuration used the AVM router? (so we know how this feature is configured?)

The configuration in the web gui from avm is only a checkbox with a dropdown list, e.g. 1-2am, 2-3am, ... (sorry screen is in german)

No firewalla can reconnect at any time and should not wait for disconnect issued by the provider. After a reconnect the 24hours are restartet, even when you reconnect after e.g. 4 hours. But think the fritzbox is reconnecting a few minutes before the 24 hour timeframe, I don't know. But myaybe a stupid cronjob can do the job as well.

Here's another approach. A script that can be called by cron anytime to reboot Firewalla.
Edit: here's the link I meant to include.

Here's another unit up in germany, just a red one.
i'm also having Fritzbox and VDSL50 means 50 MBit down and sth around 12 up. VDSL doesn't have the forced "cut" every 24 hours. Maybe because of needed SIP phone which will be interrupted by that forced "cut", like mentioned.
