Questions working with Eeros
My network configuration: asus router (DHCP server) with the following connected:
- 2 eeros in bridge mode
- firewalla blue in Simple mode
I noticed recently that:
- Eero sometimes incorrectly reports device connection types. For example, an iPhone and an appleTV which has no Ethernet showed as “Ethernet” connections while 1 or two Ethernet devices showed as wifi. This isn’t a chronic problem but just wondering if this is simply due to arp spoofing or if it could be a bug?
- i notice some physically stationary devices like a Flo iot device connect to the most distant eero. I’ve been working with eero support and wanted to rule out firewalla as a possible cause. Their support don’t know much about firewalla. I assume this is unrelated to firewalla, but thought I’d try to confirm that.

This may have something to do with the SRP spoofing that Firewalla does to implement most of its magic. The eero may detect wireless devices as those only connected through the eero mesh. When the Firewalla routes a ping back through itself from your iPhone, the eero sees it coming in on the wired side.

1. The device type is likely related to ARP spoofing.
2., Which firmware version are you using? Our eero pro units were upgraded recently to 3.18, which causes a set of problems with connections (wifi), and primarily related to devices going on and off to 2.4 and 5 GHz. Then the device DNS will go crazy.
