Smart devices?

I am playing with a couple of cheap smart devices - a water level alarm and a door alarm both of which use wifi. I was hoping firewalla would show me what these devices are accessing, so I can see if they are doing anything bad, except I dont see any traffic being logged from the devices through the UI. Do I need to dig deeper?

  These devices are a bit tricky, reason is they very likely to send little data, hence capturing their activity via the simple mode (via arp spoof) may be a bit difficult.  You can do two things,

  1. change to use DHCP mode.  This will capture their traffic. 

  2. change the IP address of these devices to in the 192.168.218.x range, which will pick up by Firewalla overlay network
