Firewalla Blue versus Syfer
So, I'm trying to decide between the Firewalla Blue and Syfer, also a new firewall VPN adblocker product on Indiegogo. I am trying to understand the differences.
Yours has no subscription fee, so that's a plus, but theirs doesn't appear to be tied to 'big-box' cloud services. Can you provide some thoughts on what makes Firewalla the better choice?

It is really hard to compare. Syfer is not A released product, the only thing we know about it is from the marketing materials. So we can’t really comment on its capabilities. But from the look of it, they are vpn based, which sends your traffic to some where. While Firewalla process traffic locally, that’s the reason for no monthly fees

I think it depends on what you're looking for. I wanted something that would tell me what all my IoT devices are doing.
I've looked at a ton of different products and I settled on Firewalla Blue based on features and customer ratings. It does exactly what I wanted it to do (plus more).
To me, there's a lot of value in having a proven product now vs. a bet on something from Indiegogo that may or may not work. I've had my share of failed products from Indiegogo and Kickstarter, but to be fair I've also had some great ones. It's a bit of a gamble.

Platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo do provide a good platform for companies like ours. Our initial product the affordable Red came from Kickstarter. There are a lot of very good marketing people on those platforms, this is the reason that we do not comment or compare our product with what's coming.
