Beverly, the box only able to store 24 hours of data.  If there are strong reasons, we may be able to archive some logs.   This will require a bit of work (saving, retrieval ... and manage it)   Do you use this often? or how long do you want the logs to be stored?

Thank you so much for you prompt and clear response.

I would think a few days - a week might be enough.  For example, I was of town -but knew someone was at my house because I got a notice of activity.through my phone.  Wow!  That is Great!  I called and talked to people right away.  But the next day - I couldn't prove what had happened or how I knew.

For an interim solution after the above, could be to allow for offloading the logs to a syslog server or such.  There would probably be an issue reading them unless the raw data makes sense - but if it did that would be sufficient.  That way the user would be responsible for storage and the viewing facility.  In a Linux environment that would be easy to do.

Thank you again for your consideration!

Beverly, these are likely business/pro features.  To build them may be a bit costly for us, and if for us to do it, we may charge a small fee for such services.  Curious, if you will be interested in paying a bit extra for this?

Hello, I am also interested in a longer retention of logs for every device.  I don't need all network flows stored for the longer duration, just the total bandwidth consumed.  On the main screen, total bandwidth for the household is stored for 30 days, it would be great to have this same option for all individual devices.

Oftentimes, I don't know until several days/week+ later that one day bandwidth consumption was really high and I need to determine which device is doing this.  With the current 24-hour retention on device bandwidth consumption, this is impossible to track down unless I do it within a one-day period.

Is this feature in the works for a future firmware release?

Yes, give us sometime.  We are spending some time to push a new set of features out and hopefully we get back to this.  This task do require us to redesign a bit inside.  Our original intention of the design was for quick IDS/IPS functions, as well as computations.  Statistics, we need to see how we can efficiently store these things and summarize them.

Hey, can't you just use the internal SD card to save more logs? Even if it's only accessible when in the same network.

Yes, that's our intension.   It takes time to put that code together ... and now we want to stabilize the blue platform first, make our customers happy, more sales to us, we get money, hire a bunch more expensive developers and write that :)

I just got a blue, and that feature will make your new customer (me) happy.

Frankly, I think it is nonsense and too much to ask for users to review the log every day.

Without spending big bucks, I think you can implement a rolling log file feature that can be simply accessed via SSH.

That would be a good start.

And the next step would on-demand analysis, which would be still very cheap too.

Instead of analyzing multiple days logs, let user can choose a date that the user wants to see from the available log files, then it analyzes the log file of the selected date. You already have all the functions necessary to analyze 24-hour data.

Based on SD slot maybe retention policy will be good for FREE to be 7 day and perhaps 0.99$ per 30 days and 1.99$ per 60 days or the ability of the user to send logs to own LOG server as Synology integrated Log Station is good example of catching and showing logs as on BSD format also in IETF. in a simpme and easy manner!
24-hours retention is too angry retention as mentioned above 3 or 7 days is enought and no space hungry task for FREE.

You as startup using OpenSource must keep a target which help or crowdfund you!

Keep up the excellent work and feel free to ask a community for help!

Andrey Fedorov please https://firewalla.net, this is the MSP interface, has the ability to store much more data and generate reports on them
