Can Firewalla Protect us from VPNFilter or can Firewalla be Infected

I just heard about VPNFilter that seems to attack Routers can Firewalla protect us from it?

Can Firewall be infected with VPNFilter I am concern that  even if it can protect from VPNFilter it can be infected too 

This is a BIG question I say if it can protect us from it!!!
