home lab setup to test a firewall

Hello all. i currently have a firewalla purple connected to my cable modem in router mode (veyr happy with it i might add). i would like to setup a homelab so that i can test a product from fortinet. my idea is to setup a separate network on the firewalla and give it vlan id. configure that on my managed switch (a unifi switch) and connect the wan port of the fortigate device to a port of that managed switch tagged with that vlan and then add the ip address that the wan port of the fortinet device to the firewalla dmz.

My plan is also to block intervlan traffic (via the firewalla) to keep my tests from "messing" with the main network. i know i will need to deal with double nat but is this a viable route to take?

  Should work. What you are doing is pretty much standard segmentation; After you setup the VLAN's, make sure you add the rules to block off traffic from the main network
