Nighthawk S8000 Managed Switch Issue
I’ve got a Gold Plus and have really had nothing but trouble getting it to work with my network equipment. I finally got my ASUS mesh network mostly up and running (some devices still completely undiscovered in the interface despite getting addressed) - but I have 2 managed S8000 switches set in DHCP mode - they will not pick up an IP from the LAN configured in the FGP. I tried everything. Anyone have any ideas? I also have a couple other managed Netgear switches I tried and they won’t pick up an IP either. Basically, to get my RT-AX82U to pick up an IP in AP mode I had to completely reset it and the FGP to factory a number of times until it randomly started working. So far not impressed at all with this product.

A managed switch should NOT be your DHCP server, are you running them as a router? if you are, this is the reason, everything is hidden behind it. You should run them just as layer 2 switches. (no DHCP and use firewalla as your DHCP server). Same as your ASUS mesh network, it needs to be in AP mode.

I just have them set to default ‘dumb’ mode, get the IP automatically from the FGP, they just don’t pick one up. Plugged into one of the LAN ports they are not detected at all. If I plug one into the AP - the switch and devices will get an IP and start working, but none will be seen in the FGP device list.
