Gold Pro with TP-Link Deco BE85 (BE22000)
A brand new owner of a Gold Pro and also a Deco BE85 (3-Pack) system.
I am coming from an Orbi RBR50 kit (WiFi 5). My old router was a mini PC with Untangle installed. I was able to install the Orbis directly to my router without issue. The Orbis were in Access Point mode.
I then got the Deco system and attempted the same. The Deco system was placed in Access Point mode. The Decos did NOT like being connected directly to my router in the least. The "main" Deco would also connect, the second wired Deco however, would show connected (green light on the device); however, the Deco iOS app would not see it. Also, after a few hours the second wired Deco would ultimately flash red indicating not connected. There are many posts on this about Deco systems needing specific switches, spanning tree turned off, etc etc. I did notice that if I connected the Decos directly to each other using their own ports, they connected fine and were noticed by the Deco app and behaved as expected.
Enter Gold Pro. Again, I connected the 2 Decos directly to the Gold Pro. Again, in Access Point mode. My thought process for the Gold Pro is that I would connect the two Deco's to the 10 gig ports on the Gold Pro and hence have 10 gig backhaul between my access points. The Deco 85s have two 10 gig ports also. BINGO! Deco devices are green. iOS App is showing them as connected. The Decos are behaving as expected.
I did NOT have to mess with any of the settings (Spanning Tree for example) on the Gold Pro. It just worked. (I believe the Spanning Tree setting on the Gold Pro is on by default.)
FYI in case there are any other Firewall Gold Pro and Deco BE85 users out there with the same question.
(For what it is worth too, I did get myself a BE200 Intel WiFi 7 card for my laptop. It is connecting to 2 bands and aggregating. This is more a testament to the wifi card and the Deco however. Prior with my 6E card my link rates were 2100 if memory serves.)

According to TPLink the ethernet backhauls need to be from the main unit. If you connect them in parallel, it may have problems (https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1794/)

I have the Decos in Access Point mode. Those pictures describe Router mode. I have a fancy router called a Firewalla Gold Pro. Maybe you have heard of it? :)
Edit:
In fact, following the link that you provided (https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1794/), if you read the paragraph just above the graphic, it states that Access Point mode allows direct connection to the router (I added the red line):
I have gone back to my first post and bolded Access Point to hopefully bring more clarity.
