    I know the color scheme is to match the Gold Pro, but since these are designed to go onto a shelf or table in the corner of a room I think the yellow should be swapped for either more white or black so it's color doesnt clash with most environments and stand out so much .

    Unless the yellow is supposed to act like a racing stripe and give it more HP. Then definitely keep the yellow and consider adding more please.

    I already have a mesh network with an AmpliFi Alien access point. Can I add another access point to the existing mesh using Ethernet backhaul? If so, would the new access point need to be configured as a node or as the primary (mother) node?

    I agree with @M.  For a desktop/exposed product it should be more neutrally colored. Nevertheless, I can't wait to get my hands on a desktop and a few ceiling mounted units.

    @ M

    I completely agree. This color scheme is pretty horrendous. Desktop units (and ceiling units) should blend in, not draw attention. Firewalla, you’re really limiting applications for picky users if you don’t have color options.

    I was hoping for more discussions on micro segmentation. And no, it is not possible to change colors at the moment.

    People will always nitpick. Although yellow wouldn't be my first pick for an accent color, it isn't offending my delicate sensibilities either. Very excited to get a couple of these ASAP.

    @firewalla - Think of the color discussion as a sign of praise that everything else is hitting it out the park.

    So, about that micro-segmentation; how is it executed? Dynamic VLANs, Tunneling... How do rules, groups and users play in. Can you give us a sneak peek via a animated gif or video?

    Scenario: I would love to have my Sonos gear talk to each other, specified devices (ipads) on my Home\Corp vLan and the internet only.

    MLO, in theory, should work; it is pretty hard to find clients that can work together. So, until the client side is ready, we don't advertise it

    Just recently purchased 3 refurb Orbi 6E and using with Gold Pro.

    Definitely, planning to get 3 of these AP7 and hoping the price is right.

    @UGrant, we will have more information on microsegmentation in the future. Dynamic VLAN's will be supported (only in WPA2 mode).

    Groups+users will be part of the zero trust story :)

    Expect more writings + tutorials before shipping the units.

    I have 2 questisons:

    1. Does MLO work between APs. i mean, if APs will do wireless backhaul with all the radios and bands between them? the reason i am asking is I am currently using 3 Asus WIFI 6 with wireless backahul, i get best connection under 5G radio (1400-2000 Mbps), I had 6E routers before from EERO, but it gave me the wrost wireless backhual due to poor wall penetration.

    2. for the VLAN, can we use single SSID but put device into different VLAN?

    @Kid

    1. MLO works between AP. By default, this is not turned on; the backhaul is 6ghz. Will we support WiFi backhaul via MLO, TBD.

    2. What you are asking is called dynamic VLAN, yes, it will be supported.

    @Firewalla

    On the topic of backhaul, are these tri-band (like TP-Link BE85) or quad-band (like BE95)?

    @firewalla

    hmm for my question 1, I thought one of the geart feature on WIFI7 was the MLO, so APs could connect to each others with multiple wireless frequencies simultaneouly to get stable communication between APs. I am not sure if WIFI7 6G backhaul only will be a good idea if there are mutiple walls between them.

    Is this dual band or tri band? Other triband I’ve seen is 6 or 12 spatial streams so the the 8 streams this AP has seems to indicate it’s dual band.

    @kid, from what I know MLO between AP's is possible, it may not be as stable (at least for our test). This will likely to change after we ship early access.

    @firewalla, Congrats this is amazing! Also can you provide any additional information on how EA and beta users will be selected? Can't wait to find out more about micro segmentation. Thanks!

    @M, we are still debating if we should do EA / Beta separately or together. This time, it will be FIFO. You pay (with a decent discount), and we ship it in 48 hours. (The only requirement is that you know how to make your firewalla into early access or beta mode and download the beta/early access APP)

    Since this is not the traditional pre-sale... the number of units we can pre-pay is limited.

    If we previously filled out the signup, I'm assuming no need to fill out again. Thank you

    If you fill it out already, no need to do it again. Once we are ready to do "order", we will let everyone know a few day ahead.

    I would like more enlightenment about WPA3 and what Zero Trust means, I’m very, very curious to know how you’ll implement this feature?

    @Firewalla:  These tabletop APs and the specs look great; I will be awaiting the ceiling mounted units.  Please, for the sake of all husbands everywhere, do not have any yellow for the ceiling mounted units.

    @eibensl The ceiling mount will be all white. We have one running, but we can't build it until we know the tariff thing on 1/20/2025. We are lucky with the desktop unit, since we started that first.

    We’re pushing Ruckus to remove their branding from the new APs. It’s gaudy and people with $$$ don’t want to have something ugly on their ceiling.

    Hopefully Firewalla will consider the same or at least just use a discreet logo with the ceiling mounted APs.

    Hard to know how to prioritize some of these features because I don't know how much it may change the cost, but for me, I just want something that allows me to *easily* set up multiple VLANs with multiple SSIDs (I'm using 3 now) and either can let me set up 2+ APs and seamlessly roam between them OR has strong enough coverage that I only need 1, even when I'm consuming it outside in my yard. If we're going the multiple AP route, having the option to put one outside would be nice if that didn't increase the price by too much.
    WiFi 6 is still good enough if that lowers the cost significantly. If it is a small difference, 7 is worth the premium.
