Hi Mark, thanks for choosing Firewalla!

Naming devices and putting devices into groups is currently supported on Firewalla MSP. If you click the 'All Boxes' button on the header and switch it to your Firewalla Gold box, you will find the ability to manage device groups on the devices page. The reason why you need to switch to the box view is that we don't support managing device groups across boxes at the time.
You can also reserve IP addresses under the individual box's view by clicking the 'pin' icon next to a device's IP address on the devices list.
As for setting up port forwarding, it is already on our to-do list, along with many other network management abilities. So please stay tuned. Thank you!

I agree, love firewalla and trying to use it as a msp is a bit difficult atm as it seems to be read only for most things in the portal.

would be nice if you could add the more devices remotely and be able to manage it (network/wan changed ect) from the msp portal

once this is done then I think a load more msp companies will look to use firewalla, just needs to be fully managed via the portal and not just on phones :)

I mean that it seems you need to have a phone and the firewalla at the same place to set it up, would be nice if the device could be added to a portal and setup through the portal instead of adding it to a phone.

I have had firewalla since the beginning and loved using it at home (still use it :) even upgraded it to gold), as for the business model, its great if it is one company but if it is multiple companies with multiple techs it can be a bit messy trying to use phones and giving access on many phones is a bit of a security risk.

the current firewalla msp portal feels like a read only portal and is limited, you cant do the same things as the app on a mobile.

but looking forward to the other management abilities the will be added that you mentioned above :)

So I've had my Gold SE for like 8 months.  I vowed to give it a good try.  I was not too excited about the phone only interface so I paid for the MSP but honestly, the damn thing is so bloody automatic, I've really not had to use either very much.

With other firewalls, routers, I was constantly in the web interface opening ports, etc.  But Firewalla just seems to work.  I spent a little time opening the ports I wanted to the devices I wanted.  But once that activity was over I just don't even bring up the phone interface much.

I am also a little surprised but my iPhone interface seems to work even when over the WAN.  I'm not sure how but at my company, when my phone is on their WiFi link I can bring up the Firewalla app and I can see activity.  I have not tried to do much but it seems to be happy connecting over the WAN.

I am sure I'm hardly using much of the device.  I didn't need much, but it seems to be working great.  I thought I would really miss not have a computer/web based portal to control the device, but I don't miss it much.

Essentially, the MSP console must AT LEAST (if not provide more features) mirror or supplant all features of the phone app.

Additional features to consider for MSP:

    - specific IP and domain based allow/ disallow lists (with a warning that it may break the standard Firewalla features)
    - complete remote administration of all Firewalla boxes deployed and registered to the MSP account

    - allow add/ remove devices from an account without the need of a cell phone

MSP features login register join "MSP register" exclusive

We are going to add some of the essential features to the MSP. At least I know (seen) 2.7.0 already have some part of the network manager active. The main challenge is to prevent the MSP interface from killing the network (due to human error), so we are likely to be a lot more careful.
