Reply to ping on DDNS
Hello.
I've just configured my Firewalla Gold SE, and I was trying to set again my Broadband Quality Monitor (from thinkbroadband.com) with the new firewalla.org DNS name (I had dyndns with previous router), but it looks like the box doesn't reply to pings.
I tried to ping the firewalla.org dns from my laptop on the lan as well, but not reply either.
I have a default rule which blocks "Traffic from Internet", so I thought that might be the cause, but even after trying to pause it temporarily, it didn't help.
Could there be something else blocking icmp replies ?

In the settings in the app there's some for "Block ICMP (Ping)" with settings for the LAN and WAN interfaces. You could switch off this blocking on the WAN interface and it would respond to pings from your Monitor site. You may have to setup something to keep track of your WAN IP separately though.
I would probably just rely on Firewalla's own network monitoring. It can test your connection and let you know if something is wrong. There's also a "Network Performance" section in the app.
Their docs on that section are: https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/4413511352083-Network-Performance-and-Quality-Monitoring
