UDM Gateway with FWG in simple mode questions

I recently purchased a Unifi G4 Doorbell and plan to get some G4 cameras later to add to my network. Since Unifi Protect will not work on the controller running in docker on the FWG, i decided to buy their UDM Pro with HD expansion and maybe later their NVR. 

If i change from Router mode to Simple mode, and then forward my traffic from UDM to FWG, can i still use target lists? 

Also, if UDM FW is active and then i forward to FWG, is this not advisable or perfectly fine? 

I could have kept my FWG in router mode i suppose if i just got their cloud key instead but i wanted to play around with the features of the UDM suite.

  With simple mode, you do NOT need to forward traffic to the FWG, FWG should be able to grab it. (assume your UDM is compatible with firewalla simple mode)

  When switching to simple mode, do i lose my configured target lists?

  you don't, they should stay
