FWP Network Management VLAN
I am trying to set up multiple VLANs on my FWP with multiple managed switches. I have a Home VLAN (192.168.5.1/24); a Gaming VLAN (192.168.10.1/24); and an IoT VLAN (192.168.20.1/24).
On the FWP my Management network is the LAN (192.168.100.1/24), and I am using VLAN1 on all my switches as it is the default VLAN. I just am not sure what this behavior is going to be since this Mgmt Network is not an actual VLAN on the FWP.
I statically assigned IP's to all my switches and my two APs with an address from this Management Network (currently VLAN 1; Switch 1 = 192.168.100.2, Switch 2 = 192.168.100.3, Switch 3 = 192.168.100.4, AP1 = 192.168.100.253, AP2 = 192.168.100.254), and disabled DHCP on this LAN. Unfortunately, the Management Network is NOT setup as a VLAN on the FWP, just as a LAN. I believe last time I tried to make this management network a VLAN (i.e. VLAN1) I had more problems than I am currently having.
On the first managed switch directly connected to the FWP has all FWP VLANs tagged and VLAN1 untagged. This first switch is sort of a distribution switch, as most all ports are trunks to other switches in the house (save one port for an OTA DVR), so I have VLAN1 untagged on all these trunk ports. I thought if I untagged these ports the switches would be "participating" in this network/vlan since I have assigned the IP's of the switches statically to this 100 subnet. Maybe I am way off on this, and I probably need to move AWAY from VLAN1 as my management network.
Any insight or assistance would be appreciated
