Confused about DNS
Hello all,
I am going thru my FF browser settings, I do this comprehensive check yearly (along with my Google and Microsoft accounts) and the DNS section of my FF I am unsure which setting to pick.
As more and more options are added (to Firewalla/FF/Windows) it makes it even more difficult for an untrained Newb who is trying to keep his home net secure, yet not bogged down and slow from having conflicting settings between Firewalla and Windows and my browsers.
Please see the attached screenshot of the setting I am referring to.
**** I TRIED TO INSERT A 169KB IMAGE BOTH .JPG AND .PNG AND THIS SITE SAYS IT IS LIMITED TO 2MB AND MUST BE PNG, JPG or GIF ****

I read the email reply from zendesk and tried again with the same result.
I took a screenshot of the error box and tried to post that, (different software) but could not post that either.
Any FireFox users wishing to reply, the area I was talking about is under tools:
Tools > Settings > Privacy & Security > DNS over HTTPS > Enable secure DNS using:
Maybe someone else could try and post a pic of the area in question.
So I have DNS settings in:
Firewalla
Firefox
Windows (eithernet)
Windows (wifi)
Is one of the above a primary or more important one?
Do I need to set DNS in both the Eithernet and WiFi sections of my Windows settings? (Assuming I am on a laptop and could use either).
There is a reason IT Professionals have to go to school to learn this stuff.....

While I was posting on the FF end of things your reply crystallized for me what I am really looking for:
How do I set DNS for each one, (Firewalla, FF and Windows) as they relate to each other.
In other words how do I set DNS for any of these so as to not screw the other ones up, which one should be set first and then how would that affect how I would set the DNS on the others.
I assume Firewalla would be the first to be set, then Windows? Then FF?

Got it
If you want Firewalla to take over DNS configuration for everything, you should NOT setup DoH on Firefox or any operating system. (DoH tend to hide things). You can setup any DNS server or leave it as default, firewalla will always override the configuration.
