Firewalla Purple, Wireguard VPN Server, external Pi-hole…no ad blocking?

I’ve enabled the Firewalla Wireguard VPN server on my Purple and have Pi-hole running on an RPi. However, when I connect externally to my network through the Wireguard VPN, ads are not being blocked as they would be when I’m local to my network. Is there a configuration setting that I need to change somewhere? Thanks in advance!

  If you remove pi-hole from the picture and use firewalla native ad blocker, do you still have the issue?

  Make sure your Wireguard Network DNS is set to the Pi-Hole ip address AND you have the Pi-Hole ip address set in the WireGuard Config file on your device. Had similar issue when I first spun up the WG VPN. It was not routing the DNS to the Pi-Hole and only the Firewalla.

  @Firewalla - I did try the native ad blocker and it did block the ads.

  @James Willhoite - thanks for the tips, I’ll look into making those changes.

  Did you edit the WireGuard config file and change the DNS server to the piholes IP address?
