This is my rack. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My rack is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
My rack, without me, is useless. Without my rack, I am useless. I must maintain my rack true. I must upgrade faster than my enemy who is trying to outdo me. I must test him before he outtests me.PS: The US Marines ripped me off, not the other way around 🤣🤣I'd love to get any sort of Firewalla for more granular control but the funds manager (aka "The Wife") won't allow it at the moment. 🤣From Top to Bottom:- Linxcom UK - 1U 19" Rack Mount Thermostatic Fan Tray 2x 120mm Fans

From top to bottom, left to right:
- Grandstream HT813 as a PTSN output for 3CX, Lutron Bridge, Firewalla Gold
- Netgear unmanaged 24 port switch used as a lab vLAN
- Dell R730, primary virtualization server using Hyper-V. Hosts all production and fully virtualized lab.
- Dell R720, secondary virtualization server using Hyper-V. Mainly hosts Backblaze VM connected to RAID array, secondary DC.
- Synology DS218, used as a monitoring agent for the servers.
- Dual Tripp-Lite UPS systems, each has one of the PDUs up at the top of the rack and then a single PowerEdge server attached. It provides approximately 35 minutes of runtime before the Synology will start powering things down.
Not pictured:
- XB8 Modem from Comcast, mid-split happening any day now.
- Dell X1052p, main switch and provides PoE to all devices throughout the home.
-
Simple but does the job:
Topology: Modem -> Firewalla -> Eero (bridge mode) -> Switch -> Other hardwired eeros and ethernet ports throughout the house
Internal network has 10G connection from local NAS to desktop computers via a 10G switch (top switch)
Old iMac used for network monitoring as seen below (love that firewalla desktop interface!)

Firewalla Gold in Router Mode.
Unifi 8 port 10GB switch to main machine and servers/NAS units
2 x Unifi 24 port switch(1 x POE)
4 x Unifi AP's (Not shown)
Spare 16 port 1GB Netgear switch
2 x TrueNAS Scale Servers
5 x Proxmox servers setup as a cluster setup with High Availability, running multiple VM's and Containers ranging from network security to websites, game servers and multiple domain controllers, 3CX Server and a host of other OS's.
Each Proxmox Node running 2 x Xeon, 256GB RAM and 8 SAS/SSD. Along with 4 x 1GB Ethernet and 1 x 10GB.
A few other NAS boxes as redundant backups and an NVR.
Let's just say that the HomeLab gets a tad bit warm!

Made a 2u box with a lot of stuff I needed and also wanted it to be portable. Contains everything for redundancy, power for 60 minutes when I lose power and just needs a single wall outlet and whatever my modem of choice needs. Covers go on the front and back. It has wheels. The screens are for two separate piholes.

You guys have some really strong rack game! I've a pretty light load here. Spectrum cable modem is WAN into Firewalla. One Firewalla port is home VLAN, another is tagged for the work SD-WAN device. The media server is segregated, and there's another AP elsewhere in the house also isolated for guest use. I'm glad the Gold will finally have a rack mount option so I can make more room for Vector 2.0 to play during the day (look how sad he is).

Like some others, this is a work in progress. I was excited to pull my Sansui GX-5 audio rack out of the basement after 20+ years. Who knew that "19-inch rack" in 1976 would mean the same as "19-inch rack" in 2023?
This is pretty simple compared to most arrangements already posted. I'm using my Firewalla Gold in failover mode and it works like a charm for AT&T fiber with Comcast backup. Also have a Firewalla Blue, though it's not currently inline.
There's a new UPS on order (to rack mount, of course), and at that point I have to up my cable management game. Otherwise, it's too embarrassing for me to even show up. -
Dont drink and network, fellas. This here is a premium setup, got this table at walmart, battery backup from amazon, raspberry pi's from some fella on ebay. I only have wifi for phones, everything else is hardwired and goes through my beloved firewalla gold. (someone please help Im drowning here)

I gotta say, ya'll have perfect cable routing, clean edges, no cruff or mess.
I've gone another way: Cut out the drywall under the steps, bodge in some leftover rails from a project, and rackup up a switch-as-a-shelf alongside the home server....It's a mess, but it's all my mess :-)
