I'd suspect it would work - the Firewalla Gold (original, non-plus model) was upgradeable. Intel also lists the max supported memory for the J4125 processor as 8GB, so it seems like it should work:

Maybe @firewalla can chime in here on the latest... but I remember that attempting to flash the device (rarely if ever needed) does not work if memory is upgraded. This is different than upgrading/updating the device through normal means via app etc.

Moreover... I did upgrade my previous older Gold models and saw no benefit. Then again I use it as is out of the box and don't install anything like Docker containers or the sort.

Again... default Firewalla setup for any Gold models does not utilize or benefit from any memory upgrade.

    Update:

The Gold (original) and Gold Plus are running good with 8Gb (ddr3 original and ddr4 plus).

But the first SODIM DDR4 a was put in plus don't up the system. Was a Kingston HyperX Impact. The gold dont do the BEEP and dont start with this.

I bought and very simple Adata and works good (8Gb).

@Mike is right, both box work only no max with 8Gb but careful, DDR3 in original and DDR4 in Plus or Rev.B

    THX!

The Firewalla Gold Plus J4125 CPU  can handle at max 16GB  ram at 2400Mhz.  Original Ram in my unit was a Adata 4GB CL22 3200Mhz.  Currently have Corsiar Vengence 8GB CL16 2400Mhz SODIMM. everything is working perfectly well.  Running a couple of Docker containers the extra ram helps.

I had test a couple of 16GB chips  from Corsiar Vengence CL16 at 2400Mhz and 3200Mhz, the 2400Mhz worked fine but had issues with 3200Mhz.

    @bob

Bob, thank you very much for the feedback. I tested it with an 8GB SODIMM DDR4, and it worked well. I didn't test it with 16GB because the Intel ARK website states that the limit is 8GB. However, I will try it with 16GB since it would greatly benefit my projects if it works (even with 2400MTUs). I really appreciate you sharing this experience.

The J4125 CPU, can with more than 8Gb of ram, is used by several Synology devices, specifically the DS423+ which is the one I have, and you can see in the screenshot, 18GB of RAM.

The NAS comes standard with 2Gb of ram soldered on board, to which I added 16Gb of Crucial module

    This ram module is installed, "Crucial RAM 16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL22 CT16G4SFRA32A"

I was unaware until reading this post, and then some more, that the rev.B of Firewalla Gold Plus, will carry J4125 CPU.

I am considering purchasing the Gold Plus (rev.B).

I currently have an Asus RT-AX88U Pro router, Ubiquiti ONT and the Firewalla would connect it to the router, I have to see what modes it works, as the router will remain as it is.

    Greetings.

Yes Azagra, the diference between Plus and Rev. B is only the port speed 2.5 Gbs X 1 Gbs.

I have Plus and Rev. B here, if you want buy one rev B. be quickly because they (Firewalla) have low units and dont will produce more, only Plus and Gold Originial (DDR3) now.

    Than you for information @Pimbox,

I have had a Firewalla Blue, which is currently unfeasible for the network I have at home, 1Gb/1Gb fiber and the internal network at 2.5G.

How is the overall performance of the Gold Plus? if purchased, it would be the B rev.

    Does it get very hot?
    Best regards

Gold B and Plus have a nice performance, im using in my home, in company and clients (some schools with 1000 students in same time). Have good working temperature (keep the top free to dissipation).

You can put a REV B (it is ok for your internet) and all 2.5Gb Lan network you can put to your switch manager.

Or you can invest some more money and put a Plus.... 2.5Gb in all 4 ports is a good  thing and increase the time to became unfeasible as your Blue.
