Topology Question

There is nothing wrong with connecting an eero directly to the FW... however, you will have issues present (whether or not you have user experience issues is dependent on the number of clients [looping, storms etc]).

Topology #2 will work with these caveats.   The topology you list as current is not recommended but is subject to the same caveats.

Is this response a joke? You basically told me there is nothing wrong with connecting an Eero directly but then said I will have issues.

Then you said Topology #2 will work with caveats, but then never listed the caveats and also said it’s not recommended and also subject to the same caveats that you never listed.

Seriously, thanks for trying to help but that made zero sense.

The listed caveats is that anything in parallel to an eero will have loops and things that you will likely have issues in your TCP/IP dumps and if you have enough clients they will impact your customer experience with those clients.  NEITHER topology is "perfect" for eero.  Ideally you should have ISP -> FW -> eero -> switch -> all other devices.

Whether or not you EXPERIENCE the issues in BOTH topologies you list will be dependent on the number of clients.  The issues will be PRESENT in both.

I've beta tested eeros since 2017 with FWG since its release.

I know of no issues with either configuration as described. In fact, if I still had eeros, would shoot for topology 2. When I did have them I ran them similarly. Mind you, there are also other workable configurations.

The only issue I know with eeros is that one eero must be topologically in front of all other eeros even when they are in bridge mode. see Firewalla's comments:

Now there is one more thing that could be in play, but I don't think applies here. STP https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/14486004537235-Device-is-slow-to-get-an-IP-address-Spanning-Tree-Protocol-STP- But Firewalla is making this configurable so even if it were an issue, it will be addressed in the next release.
