Firewalla Gold and Bridge mode.
Hi, I have a FGold. I have a Netgear C7000v2 I put into bridge mode (basically it's just a modem now?) per 'best use' per FGold installation. I guess I now need a way to get wifi through the house. Looking at a mesh system. I have a 1,800 sq. ft. ranch home. 2 smart tvs, 2 mobil phones, a laptop, and a tablet requiring signal. Recommendations for my scenario would be appreciated.
I'm wondering if FGold can be programmed to whatever company makes the system from mining data. I'd think that would be the bottom line for manufacturers, new data to sell. Maybe I'm wrong. But knowing Amazon makes a few of these systems I wouldn't be surprised. Please advise - thanks very much, Shep

In terms of recommendations, it really is best to start by deciding what your requirements are.
Do you want VLANs now or in the future? https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408644783123-Building-Network-Segments? This allows you to separate work and personal devices, IoT devices, Guests, etc.
How "geeky" do you want to be? Do you want a lot of bells and whistles, or do you want a "set and forget" kind of situation.
What speeds do you need/want?
Do you want the option of wireless/wired backhaul to connect the APs? Wired is always better when possible, but sometimes wiring is expensive or impossible.
A few brands that come up often from discussions:
- Aruba
- eero
- Orbi/Orbi Pro
- Omada
- Unifi
Oribi Pro, Omada, and Unifi all offer VLANs. Orbi Pro is a bit simpler to set up but isn't as feature rich.
There are lots of great discussions in the Firewalla groups on Reddit and Facebook as well as here.
