No.  The Bluetooth is part of that red dongle, so to disable it you can always pull it out and put it in a very secure place.

Once GOLD is setup and configured, should the dongle be removed be stored securely?

You can leave it there (taking out should be okay too).  If you worry about others pairing with your unit, you should take the license sticker out and store it in a secure place.

I think from a security perspective, the Bluetooth dongle should be removed once the device has been set up. This is simply for the same reason you should rename you Access Point. It gives the attacker an idea of what hardware are you running on your network.

I have the dongle removed but the unit is still broadcasting Bluetooth signals. One can even connect to it and communicate using other sw apps. This seems like a major potential security vulnerability. I haven't fully explored to determine what if any damage can actually be done...

Could somone from @Firewalla please comment on this?

Brender Without the Red dongle, Firewalla box doesn't have the ability to broadcast Bluetooth signals at all.

What does it mean one can still communicate it with sw apps?

You are correct. My sincerest apologies. The signal was coming from another unrelated device that was placed close by which I didn't even realize had Bluetooth. Now I feel like an idiot. Haha

Thanks for the quick response though!!
