    Controlling UPnP depends on the application.   And I think most of them will be doing something like, request UPnP, if UPnP fails, go to an alternative route.   Manual control is "slow", so almost every time, the app will think UPnP failed. 

    In all ... UPnP is useful, but the protocol itself needs some work.

    I mean from the FWG perspective, I have a Synology NAS which can essentially open ports for what it need, and I trust it. It would be nice to be able to say "Accept UPnP requests from <blurph>" but not others for example.
