Are you running Beta? Firewalla did push out an update to not allow pings.

In the App goto Settings > Advanced > Configurations > Block ICMP (Ping)

if it is on then it WILL NOT respond to pings.

Thanks James - I wasn't aware a change in behavior was being made and no, not on beta, but yes, that was on.  Going to research how to control when/whether updates are applied now.  Appreciate the help!

Welcome, and I don't think you can "control" the updates. They are applied automatically. I follow Firewalla on Facebook and I get the Newsletter from them about new features coming out. Might want to sign up for those.

Thanks James!  I get the updates via email, but didn't see anything about ping blocking by default (but easily could have missed it).  Not sure if it will be useful for anyone else, but will dig into it and see how they can be blocked (at least temporarily) as I want as few  uncontrolled changes being made in my environment as possible.  :)  Thanks again!

In case anyone else is looking to control upgrades, looks like the upgrade check runs out of the pi crontab.  Will confirm after I've gone through all the scripts to be sure.

Ping should be off by default. So it is a good Fix and can be set, but pushing it out (mandatory) is like getting a new Windows version you never asked for ;( nor wanted,

This is our fault.  Often engineers will pick up things from your feedback and just do them.  And at times, small things like this is hard to track ... and this will fall through the cracks, and our release person doesn't get the change request.

We will do better next time.  Nasty email is written to our team so they are aware of the importance of documenting changes.

The best way to follow changes is via all the social channels and email newsletters.

Thanks much!  I know how difficult change control can be so I appreciate the attention there, in addition to the work your team is doing to make the product better.
