The error does look like an Authentication problem. Can you double-check that you pasted the right username and password? this is the most common mistake we see

I'm having the same issue. Username and password are correct. Any suggestions or resolution here?

If you follow the manual settings on the ExpressVPN page it literally was a copy and paste error. Like… you need to copy it directly or else if you try to email it to yourself as text it doesn’t work. I don’t know how to describe it - it’s almost illogical this is even a problem.

Once you get the code copied correctly it might give you an error message so just keep turning it on and off until it doesn’t. I occasionally have that problem from time to time.

Copy/paste directly from the ExpressVPN page into the Firewalla app for username and password.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

So, basically, I'm on a Mac, and I'm having to manually transcribe into the Firewalla app on iOS. Did you just transcribe manually, or did you open the ExpressVPN webpage on your iPhone, or some other way?

Also, you're saying that even when it's creek,t you need to try and toggle the VPN on and off several times to get it to turn on without error?

Oh, dang! Instead of transcribing by typing characters that I saw on my MacBook screen into the fields, I literally just did what you said.

    1) Go to ExpressVPN website on iPhone.

    2) Login and get manual setup username and password

    3) Copy username from ExpressVPN Manual setup page and paste into Firewalla app in OpenVPN username field

    4) Copy password from ExpressVPN manual setup page into password in ExpressVPN OpenVPN setup page.

    5) Switch on VPN in Firewalla.

Voila. That worked. Crazy that typing it in manually (and checking to make sure it was correct) didn't work.

Yes even after you create it you need to toggle it on several times before it may establish a successful connection.

I tried transcribing and tried emailed the copied and pasted text to myself to copy. It might be some weird Unicode thing that you can’t see - you need to copy directly from the ExpressVPN site into the Firewalla app.

Yea exactly my point - it is some stupid Unicode problem likely on the ExpressVPN site that you can’t see visually… really stupid problem
