Firewalla Gold + ExpressVPN (OpenVPN) not working
I purchased a subscription of ExpressVPN and am trying to configure the VPN Client on my Firewalla Gold per the instructions on this site. I've imported the profile (.ovpn) from the site and put my customer username/password combo in exactly as described below. It tries to connect and then errors out with some type of AUTH problem. I contacted ExpressVPN and they basically said they don't claim to fully support this router so they aren't going to help me.
I am using Firewalla Gold in Router mode with Multi-WAN setup correctly. I contacted Firewalla and they didn't do anything to help me - just asked me if I followed the instructions. The Log is copied below - appreciate if anyone has gotten OpenVPN to work correctly on their Firewalla using ExpressVPN.
Tried with multiple VPN sites from ExpressVPN (.ovpn) and know that I have copied the username/password codes exactly. Do you need to try to modify the .ovpn file in some way?

<INSTRUCTION BELOW - DOES NOT WORK>
ExpressVPN
Fully compatible.
Follow the steps below to set up ExpressVPN on Firewalla:
1. log in to your account on the ExpressVPN website.
2. Copy the Username & Password under Manual Configuration -> OpenVPN (https://www.expressvpn.com/setup#manual), and paste it into Firewalla App -> VPN Client -> profile-> create 3rd party VPN.
3. Download the OpenVPN file and import the profile to the Configuration section. Or you can open the file, copy and paste the content under the text field.
4. Save the profile, and you are ready to connect.

If you follow the manual settings on the ExpressVPN page it literally was a copy and paste error. Like… you need to copy it directly or else if you try to email it to yourself as text it doesn’t work. I don’t know how to describe it - it’s almost illogical this is even a problem.
Once you get the code copied correctly it might give you an error message so just keep turning it on and off until it doesn’t. I occasionally have that problem from time to time.
Copy/paste directly from the ExpressVPN page into the Firewalla app for username and password.

Thanks for the quick reply.
So, basically, I'm on a Mac, and I'm having to manually transcribe into the Firewalla app on iOS. Did you just transcribe manually, or did you open the ExpressVPN webpage on your iPhone, or some other way?
Also, you're saying that even when it's creek,t you need to try and toggle the VPN on and off several times to get it to turn on without error?

Oh, dang! Instead of transcribing by typing characters that I saw on my MacBook screen into the fields, I literally just did what you said.
1) Go to ExpressVPN website on iPhone.
2) Login and get manual setup username and password
3) Copy username from ExpressVPN Manual setup page and paste into Firewalla app in OpenVPN username field
4) Copy password from ExpressVPN manual setup page into password in ExpressVPN OpenVPN setup page.
5) Switch on VPN in Firewalla.
Voila. That worked. Crazy that typing it in manually (and checking to make sure it was correct) didn't work.

Yes even after you create it you need to toggle it on several times before it may establish a successful connection.
I tried transcribing and tried emailed the copied and pasted text to myself to copy. It might be some weird Unicode thing that you can’t see - you need to copy directly from the ExpressVPN site into the Firewalla app.
