Google Fiber Jack no longer requires VLAN Tagging
Google Fiber in their infinite wisdom has dropped the requirement for VLan tagging with a Fiber Jack without telling anyone. This means that my 3 year old Unifi setup worked great until it rebooted recently. This also meant that I couldn't figure out how to get Firewalla Gold Plus working directly with a Google Fiber Jack because I kept using the exact same DHCP/Vlan settings that have worked with my Unifi Security Gateway for years. I ended up going back to the Google Network Box (which still works, no surprises there) and putting Firewalla Gold into Bridge mode. Once I figured out that the VLAN tag could be an issue (via getting some sleep!), I'm now testing the Unifi Security Gateway -> Firewalla Bridge -> Unifii Switches and APs. This appears to be working. Next step is to test Firewalla in routing mode with straight DHCP and no VLAN tag (used to be 2 in my area). The best part of this experience has been that neither Firewalla support or Google Fiber support have been aware of this change. I wouldn't expect Firewalla to be aware of this, but it would have been awesome if Google's tech support knew about it.

Were you able to get the Firewalla working in router mode while using Google Fiber? Was it as simple as connecting from the Fiber jack to Firewalla Gold Plus and then from Firewalla Gold Plus to your wifi router?
I considering buying a Firewalla Gold Plus, but only if I can find evidence of it working with Google Fiber.
