FWG+ contacting questionable sites
I am in in the process of setting FWG+ with my Verizon Fios router. Just to test out the device, I enabled the simple mode on the device, connected it to one of the LAN ports on the Fios router, and it started scanning my network for the devices connected. Firewalla did a good job of notifying me of the devices connected on my network. However, shortly after I started receiving alerts from the built in Verizon firewall/web monitoring service, saying that my newly added device ‘Firewalla’ is attempting to connect to ‘thepiratebay.org’ ‘torrentz2.eu’ ‘1337x.to’ and other questionable websites, and whether I should grant access to Firewalla or block it.
Has any one else experienced this?
Any chance my brand new FWG+ was tampered with and has some rogue code?
I took it off line until I can get some more information.
Looking forward to hear back from the experts and happy holidays to all!

Firewalla likely just mapping those 'naughty' sites to IP addresses and then block them in the data plane.
The FWG+ is also best run as a router, you should look into that https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/4411167832851-Firewalla-Router-Mode-Configuration-Guide-
