device list is incomplete
I don't know if this is an android issue, but my device list only shows about 50% of the devices. I set up the firewalla today and loaded the software on android today also. I can't figure out why my other wireless devices don't appear. Any suggestions?

All my devices are listed and working well, I just now noticed that my brother wireless printer did not make the list, so when I want to print, I shows as printer not connected and I have to turn it off, and back on and wait for it to print. I have to do this every time I need to print something.
Before when I was able to see the printer on the device list there was no problem printing..
I tried to reset the firewalla several times but the printer never showed up. (the apple watch and the netatmo also disappeared) I can only see the iPhone, iPad, and MacBooks.
any ideas?
Thank you!

@Helena, the Brother wireless router not discovery is a problem we have. (in software terms, it is a bug, we will fix it soon). The apple watch is likely issue with how the scan works, and how it doesn't like to be discovered. (likely due to it trying to conserve battery.) We need to think about that as well.

Hi @Craig,
Does your Galaxy J3 connect to the same network as your firewalla? If so, to refresh the device list, please try to slide down the main screen to refresh and click the devices icon to see whether your Galaxy J3 has been added to the list. There is no need to switch to beta or upgrade firewalla.

I've tried that several times. I had a kindle that was similar. It was there for weeks, disappeared then came back. All on the same network. The j3 hasn't reregistered. The device list isn't accurate at all. I own 2 ipads. What's listed for 2 ipads is the actual device name for 1 and what I renamed for the second. The other ipad doesn't show in the list. It did once. I renamed it, and then it disappeared. The detail page on 1 of them is for a completely different device (my tv). I believe that issue is supposed to be resolved soon. I have multiple android items on the list that I don't know what they are. The detail page mac addresses don't line up with the j3. The device list is all jumbled. The detail pages are incorrect. Do I need to do a hard reset of the firewalla device?

Craig, there are some fixes coming for the kindle issue. (maybe couple other fixes as well related) The reason for the kindle is all related to the lower power devices (and some devices intentionally not answering probs, like Helena's printer) so we are creating other ways to probes them. The device name changes probably some fixes are coming.
No need to reset Firewalla. If you like @craig, we can also come in for a look

@helena, in your case the reject won't help. The issue is really in the software that runs on the Firewalla. It is called the scanner, which periodically using various methods to discover devices in the house. And devices are 'shy', so sometimes the probes won't catch them. We are looking at how we can make this better. We are looking at it, once we have it ready, you are all welcome to try it.

Hi There!
I few days the firewalla app got updated and I could tell the UI has changed. I was wondering if the problem with the printer was also fixed? I tried printing again today and the firewalla did pickup the brother printer and I was able to print, BUT it took a long time for the printer to print. the computer shows as "looking for printer" and prints after 10 mins or more. Is this because the scanner only runs every few minutes?
By the way, a couple of days ago firewalla detected the netatmo. woohoo!
I tried printing again a few minutes ago and didn't work.. turning the printer off and back on seemed to work. Good thing I don't have to print very often because if that was the case I would not be able to use the firewalla. Could you imagine having to turn on/off every time in order to print? :-P
Anyway.. hope you can fix this issue.. specially for those who need to access the printer multiple times throughout the day :-)

The printer fix is done, but it may take some time for it be released. The schedule of that got bumped back due to a few quick bug fixes. (you probably already seen the upgrades). Firewalla shouldn't kill the printer since it hasn't seen the device, it likely not doing anything with it. Tripple check your monitored device and see if you have the device, if you have it there, tap on monitoring button to turn off monitoring for the monitor. If you don't have the device listed there, Firewalla is unlikely to be the problem. What model of printer do you have?
