Why does FWP install for bridged gateway suggest an additional wifi device?

I am not sure I follow the FWP installation guide for modem/router (gateway) number 2. The installation suggests an additional WiFi device as an AP?  Wouldn't the bridged mode provide WiFi as it did before bridging and essentially be an AP?

  In bridge mode, you usually do something like 

  [Router]<---> Purple in bridge mode <--->[Wifi]

  The Wifi part has to be a wifi router in AP mode or Mesh mode in AP mode.

  Put the installation instructions I'm talking about our for a modem/router (Gateway). So I would guess it would look more like this:

  [Modem/router in bridge mode providing WiFi]<---->Purple in router mode providing DHCP and monitoring<--->[LAN devices].

  So why does FWP suggest an additional WiFI device?
