ASUS ZenWFi AX Mesh Router compatibility with FWP in router mode
Has anyone successfully set up the FWP in router mode with the ASUS ZenWFi AX router in AP mode? I'm getting a significant number of disconnects, slow speed, etc especially noticeable when streaming to Apple TV I had to remove the FWP and revert back to AiMesh router mode, and everything is back to normal. I did try turning the Firewalla monitoring off for Apple TV but that didn't seem to alleviate the problems.

I have a FW Gold in router mode with Asus ZenWifi AX (XT8) in AP mode and both have been working flawlessly since March this year when I installed FW. I just had to switch the Asus router to AP mode and everything worked right away.
I have Frontier fiber 500/500 Mbps and both FW and Asus work fast even when streaming Amazon Fire and running multiple connections through Wifi and wired ethernet. No disconnects so far.
But this is with Gold and not Purple and I do not have Apple TV.
Hope this helps.

That gives me a ray of hope. Thanks for responding..
I had a gold but got rid of it, a long story that I regret.
Another point I did not mention is the number of devices I have on my network. When you count cameras, phones, tablets, computers, Google displays, Hue Hub, and Sofy blinds hub, you get the idea I have over 60 devices. And it's not just the apple TVs I use for streaming. It's just the most visual. Computer connection losses are frequent as well. I have the smart queue set to streaming in general and specific computers. I was hoping that would deal with any bandwidth issues. The Asus mesh routers handle it fine (90%), but as soon as I put the FWP in line, things start to go haywire. Maybe I need gold to set up VLAN segmentation, but I'm not sure the Asus router supports that. Also perhaps I try DHCP mode. Any comments would be appreciated

For reference, I have 53 devices and many using the network at the same time. Mix of IoT (switches, water heater, thermostat, Amazon Echo's, garage door opener, cameras, alarm, etc...) and PC's, NAS, laptops, tablets, phones, TV, etc... Connected through Wi-Fi and wired gigabit Ethernet. 3 Asus Mesh nodes connected through wired Ethernet backhaul.
Not using VLAN's so I do not know if Asus mesh supports it but the wired Ethernet network is using several non-managed gigabit switches.
Not experiencing slowdowns or disconnects. I checked the "Events" menu in the FW app to check for disconnects unknow to me and there have been none for the past 7 days.
I'm definitely not a network expert but from your description of the issue, if the Asus side seems solid and the issue is when connecting the FW, I would start by making sure that the connection between the FW and Asus is OK (bad ethernet cable?, stable 120v power?). Also, checking that your Asus firmware is up to date. I had funy things happening with the Asus mesh with early firmware's.
I'm sure FW excellent support can help more diagnosing the FW side. Good luck.

I have a slightly different issue but hoping to get an suggestion/solution. I've FWG (Router Mode) --> ASUS ZenWifi XP4 Base station (AP Mode) Power Backhaul (not Ethernet) to Extender or the 2nd node. I see that the 2nd extender is showing the logs of the devices connected to it under it's name. I.e. My laptop is not showing as online it's network flow and traffic is being routed or clubbed under the extender. this is defeating the purpose of the rules/restrictions I've setup for different groups and devices. Did anyone face similar issue? If so, what's the solution? I tried with reserved IP already but that's not helping either. - Thank you.
