Do we need to set smart queue rules based on our total bandwidth (e.g. 2 rules that say Traffic from and to internet: Upload limit ##, download limit ##)?
Or does this "just work" without any rules? What's the ideal setup?
The smart queues work better if you do some type of limit on them. Start with ##*0.95 or ##*0.90 as your top limit.
Also, if you have a gigabit network down, and up, there is no need to do anything, you shouldn't have much trouble. but if you have say gigabit down and 30Mbit up (Comcast in the Bay area), then SMQ + rate limit upload works well.
